Yes, in retrospect it's a cheap shot, but modern politics loves a good photo opportunity, and yer man Blair was never shy when it came to pressing the flesh of (cough) celebs.
So, ignoring the persistent rumours and still enlisting the help of a sex criminal to publicise a ban on a rather tiresome rural sport probably seemed like a good idea at the time.
At least the jumper's nice and sensible...
