25 Wonderful Things No.7

Damn, I'm getting behind here. It's good job I labour in obscurity, otherwise performance anxiety would be a real killer....

Wednesday 7th December

Now, I'm not a huge fan of soulless restaurant chains and thoughtless modern homogeneity in general, but neither do I laboriously extol the virtues of supporting small local eateries.

(And support them I do, but I don't make a point of being tediously holier-than-thou about it).

In other words, my position is somewhat uncharacteristically nebulous in its equivocation.

But there is one thing I am resolutely certain about, and that's my love of deep pan pizza.

For in a world that seems to think that thinner is better when it comes to pizza bases, it's a relief that places like Pizza Hut still proudly hoist the flag for doughy overkill.

And I must admit, there is a delicious frisson when after having dined at a much more self-consciously exclusive and pretentious establishment, I can quietly say to myself that the bases are much superior at "da hut"....
